Statement of Faith

The Board of Directors of Orphanages for Africa is committed, without reservation, to the following non-denominational statement of faith:

We believe in one true God who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth, the Redeemer of mankind. He has also revealed himself as a triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10, 11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22)

We believe the Bible, both the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God; given as an infallible rule of faith and conduct by the revelation of God to man. (II Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13; II Peter 1:21)

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who is also the Son of Man. We affirm our belief in His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35); sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; I Peter 2:22); miracles (Acts 2:22; 10:38); substitutionary work on the cross (I Corinthians 15:3; II Corinthians 5:21); bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; I Corinthians 15:4); and exaltation to the right hand of God. (Acts 1:9, 11; 2:33; Philippians 2:9, 11; Hebrews 1:3)

We believe that man was originally created in the image of God, that he fell into sin through the first Adam, and that he is responsible for all sin that causes him to be separated from God and lost eternally. (Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19)

We believe that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross made atonement for the sins of the world, effective for all who repent and believe. (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11, 3:5-7)

We believe that Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His millennial reign. (Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27, 30; Revelation 1:7; 19: 11-14; 20:1-6)

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all who receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (Luke 11:13; John 3:3-6, 14:16-17)

We believe Christians are called to worship God (John 4:23-24) and become perfected in the image of his Son. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

We believe all Christians are called to good works and are in the world, but are separate from it. (Matthew 5:16; John 17:6, 11, 15-16)

We believe that Christians are called to witness for Christ and to preach the gospel to all nations. (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16)
